Commemorating the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday
Concert and Master Classes presented by the IONISATION New Music Ensemble and the New Jersey Arts Collective

This program which celebrates the words and spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will feature two unique opportunities for the students of Tenafly Middle School – a Concert and a Master class.  The performers will actually present six Master classes: one for dancers, actors, singers, band members, orchestra members and composers.  The drama master class will be presented by Leslie Patient of the Purnell School and the dance master class will be presented by choreographer, Cleo Mack.  Members of the IONISATION New Music ensemble will present the master classes for winds, strings and percussion.  Broadway performer, Roosevelt Credit will present a vocal master class and Dr. Darren Gage will present a composition master class.  The focus of all the master classes will be an introduction and exploration of the material on the concert, as well general discussions of each particular art form.

At the conclusion of the master classes, student will then see a performance featuring the words of Dr. King along with Igor Stravinsky’s L’historie du Soldat, Normalcy by Darren Gage, both with choreography by Cleo Mack.

Performances at Tenafly Middle School were made possible by the Tenafly Educational Foundation (TEF).
